After his studies or singing
in Barcelona, his debut with Zandonai´s Francesca da Rimini (Trieste
1919) propelled him to fame and he became tenor for the masses.
First of all in Madrid, Teatro Real, with Carmen and then in Rome,
Milan, New York and Buenos Aires. Puccini considered him his favourite
tenor and in 1926 Fleta sang at the première of this composer's
posthumous opera Turandot. In his later years, with his faculties
prematurely dwindling, he sang a great deal in Spain, in particular
zarzuela. He died at La Coruña, in the midst of the Civil War. This third album about Miguel Fleta in our collection includes 32 pieces of zarzuela, songs and jotas (aragonese folksong). The three albums (numbers 14, 18 and 21) are the first complete recording of all pieces recorded by the famous Aragonese tenor. It was to celebrate the centenary of Miguel Fleta's birth. In the appendix, appear some live recordings of María Fleta, soprano who was grandchild of the famous tenor. She sings arias from Les pêcheurs de perles; La Sonnambula; Romeo et Juliette, etc. | Back to Home | How to order? | |
