The first complete or "almost" complete version of the opera was made in Barcelona by the firm "Odeon" in the early thirties. Odeon took advantage of the occasion it had of counting upon a singer of international renown such as baritone Carlo Galeffi for that recording of Maruxa, as well as for a much more fragmented version of Las Golondrinas. The quality of singers, orchestra and chorus make up one of the best versions ever recorded of this most beautiful score by Amadeo Vives, which we present for the first time in CD format. |
